Australia’s newest Epic Series MTB stage race

Event Date: 24 - 27 July 2025

Reef to Reef takes place over four days in the heart of Tropical North Queensland.

Starting on the reef fringed Coral Sea coast it quickly heads inland across a network of trails through tablelands, hinterland, farm lands, MTB parks, and tropical rainforest before finishing back at the coast four days later. Each day’s stage has its own unique terrain and character to keep things interesting with a mix of fast flowing single trail, farm track, groomed downhill trails and fire trails – many through private land that can only be ridden while racing the Reef to Reef.

For 2025 we are reviewing the courses from last year and listening to your feedback. Locations will stay the same but adjustments to be made to Stage 3 at Atherton to reduce the kms and vertical climbing to make the ride achievable. Tracks will have some technical parts to them, enough to get your attention. We aim to make the event achievable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and MTB skills.

In 2025 we will not be continuing the teams classification.  This will mean that we can increase the prize money for the individuals at the pointy end of the field.

It’s technically a race but up to you whether you want to ride full gas or just enjoy the terrain at a more leisurely pace. Beer will be available to purchase at the finish line, should you be feeling thirsty at the time.

With comprehensive trail marking and with multiple check point Aid Stations included, riders will be well looked after. Each day’s racing finishes at the event village with local hospitality on offer. Every stage is unique and will be super enjoyable with the final day finishing in stunning Port Douglas, the perfect place to celebrate achieving something truly epic!

In terms of where to stay, we recommend you base yourself in Cairns or Palm Cove for Days 1 and 2, Atherton or Cairns on Day 3 and then Port Douglas for Day 4 (or more). This will enable easy transfer to the start and finish of each stage and on the last day you can then roll back to your accommodation after the celebrations!!

How we roll

Good Mates

Good Mates

When it comes to Stage Races you’d be mad not to bring a friend or two. Four days in the saddle will give you loads of time to point out what’s lacking in their riding technique and general personality. And it’s always handy to have someone to pull you up the hills on day three.

Fun Trails

Fun Trails

It’s a four day event but don’t let that put you off. This is not a slog-fest or the death defying rock gardens of the 90’s. We’ve scouted the funnest trails we could find, with loads of variety each day and achievable distances. The perfect balance of enjoyable time on the bike & enjoyable time sipping beer.

Cold Beers

Cold Beers

Speaking of beer. We’re all for it. Very few things work up a thirst like a multi-stage MTB race. Which is why you’ll find we position our bar so close to the daily finish line. Cheers!
